Course Summary:
The Criticality Safety Initial Training for Fissionable Material Handlers consists of training on the controlling of neutrons to prevent accidental criticalities. In addition, criticality accidents, fission process, and the nuclear criticality safety manual are reviewed. This course covers the requirements and recommended subjects specified in the American Nuclear Society Standard for Nuclear Criticality Safety Training. The course retrain frequency course is 24 months.

Double contingency principle
Criticality prevention policy and procedures

Target Audience:
This course is for personnel whose work activities involve material handling, direct supervision, or engineering functions associated with fissionable material.

Course Prerequisites:
Radiological Worker II Initial Training, Course 020001

Course Evaluation:
An examination will be used to measure student mastery of the training objectives.

The student must attain a score of 80 percent or higher for successful course completion.

Course Length:
8 hours

Course Frequency:
2 times each quarter and upon request
