Course Summary:
The Fall Protection and Retrieval Devices course introduces students to principles of fall protection and retrieval devices and provides hands-on training with related equipment. The training includes the following topics:

Legal requirements and basis for the training
Fall restraint and fall arrest
Basic hazards based on the requirements in OSHA 1926, Subpart M and in OSHA 1910.66 Appendix C
Equipment inspection of PFAS systems such as vertical and horizontal lifelines or harnesses
Hands-on practical area exercises involving PFAS systems and equipment
PFAS System Hazard Recognition

Target Audience:
This course is intended for those exposed to fall hazards greater than 6 feet above a lower walking/working surface involving the use of personal Fall Arrest Systems including body harnesses, vertical lifelines, horizontal lifelines, and single anchor point systems. PFAS equipment inspection and use basics are covered.

Course Prerequisites:
It is recommended that course 020145 be taken prior to this course but it is not required.

Course Evaluation:
Practical Area Exercises and a quiz will be used to measure student mastery of the training objectives.

Course Length:
9 hours

Course Frequency:
4 times each quarter and upon request
