Course Summary: :
The 8 Hour Hazardous Waste Safety and Health Training r Refresher course trains students to recognize key requirements for safety and health as specified by the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1910.120 Standard. The course is designed as a workshop that concludes with a panel discussion.

The following topics are included in the training:

Regulations that control hazardous waste operational duties
On-site manuals that regulate hazardous waste operational duties.
Factors to be considered when working with hazardous materials
Methods used for hazard recognition and control
Methods of proper drum handling
Personal protective equipment levels and the protection each provides
Upgrading or downgrading personnel protection equipment
Personal use factors jeopardizing worker safety during equipment use
Decontamination
Three zones and the line of decontamination associated with contamination control
Pre use checks, donning and doffing of personnel protective equipment
Designed response plan

Target Audience: :
Those personnel who have responsibility for safety or management.

Course Prerequisites:
Medically cleared to wear respiratory equipment, clean shaven and satisfactory completion of 24 Hour Hazardous Waste Site Worker, Course No. 031210.

Course Evaluation:
There is no formal course evaluation. The use of practical exercises measure whether or not the student has met the training objectives.
