Course Summary: This two-day course is designed to familiarize attendees with operational considerations for suspect confrontation during an active shooter incident. Class time is kept to a minimum in order to expose students to the dynamic tactics involved with this type of response. Patrol team tactics and application of building entry tactics are discussed before students complete several force-on-force entries utilizing simunitions. Demonstrations, practical scenarios and classroom instruction on the philosophical and practical issues will be the focus of the course.
The local Hazardous Materials Management Emergency Response (HAMMER) training facility's practical areas will be used to present "real as it gets" training.
The course covers the following topics.

Operational considerations for suspect confrontation

Dynamic tactics involved with active shooter response

Application of building entry tactics

Force-on-force entries utilizing simunitions

Philosophical and practical issues
Target Audience: This course is intended for use by sworn law enforcement officers or military personnel engaged in active shooter response.
Course Prerequisites: None required.
Course Evaluation: Practical exercises will be used to measure student mastery of the training objectives.
Course Length: 16 hours (2 days)
