Course Summary:
This two-day course is designed to familiarize attendees with operational considerations for patrol supervisors and officers who are responding to critical incidents. Selection and deployment of patrol arrest teams will be discussed and students will go through several force on force scenarios that test their ability to control violent offenders. Less lethal deployment options are also covered during this course. Demonstrations, practical scenarios and classroom instruction on the philosophical and practical issues will be the focus of the course

The local Hazardous Materials Management Emergency Response (HAMMER) training facility's practical areas will be used to present "real as it gets" training.

The course covers the following topics:

Selection and deployment of patrol arrest teams

Controlling violent offenders

Less lethal deployment options

Philosophical and practical issues

Target Audience:
This course is intended for use by law enforcement patrol supervisors and patrol officers who are tasked with responding to critical incidents involving violent suspects.

Course Prerequisites:
There are no course prerequisites.

Course Evaluation:
A written examination and practical exercise will be used to measure student mastery of the training objectives. The student must attain a score of 80 percent or higher on the written examination for successful course completion.

16 hour (2 day)
